A mixture of sleet and snow started falling during the early morning hours on the 28th. Total average snow accumulations were 2 to 3 inches. The snow changed to mainly rain during daylight hours on the 28th but was occasionally mixed with freezing rain or sleet. The higher elevations of St. Clair, Blount, Cullman, Morgan, And Tallapoosa counties received some light accumulations of freezing rain during the overnight hours on the 29th. Accumulation was mainly confined to tree tops and elevated surfaces. Most area schools were closed on the 28th and roads were briefly hazardous. Several minor auto accidents occurred across the area.
