A warm nose just above the surface allowed for freezing rain at onset and throughout much of the event outside of portions of northwestern Pennsylvania where snowfall was the predominant precipitation type.

Increasing moisture into the region with temperatures near freezing at the surface allowed for a wintry mix to begin across central Pennsylvania during the early morning hours of March 3, 2026. A warm nose just above the surface allowed for freezing rain at onset and throughout much of the event outside of portions of northwestern Pennsylvania where snowfall was the predominant precipitation type. Freezing rain accretions were mainly between one-to-two tenths of an inch across the region, allowing for slick conditions. Incidents in Clearfield, Clinton, and Lancaster counties produced multiple injuries during the morning hours of March 3rd before precipitation began to taper off during the afternoon and evening hours. Incidents in Tioga and York counties were also reported with no injuries reported from these accidents.

A light wintry mix fell across York County from the early morning of March 3, 2026 into the early afternoon. Winter weather conditions caused a fire truck to slide off the roadway at the intersection of Impounding Dam Road and St Bartholomew Road in West Manheim Township. No injuries were reported. Capital City Airport reported 0.12 inches of ice.

A light wintry mix fell across Lancaster County from the early morning of March 3, 2026 into the early afternoon. The winter weather conditions caused a multi-vehicle crash on the West Ferry Bridge on the westbound side of US-30 in West Hempfield Township. There were 6 vehicles involved, including a plow truck. The roadway was closed for approximately 45 minutes. Two injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

A light wintry mix fell across Clearfield County throughout the morning and early afternoon of March 3, 2026. The Clearfield-Lawrence Township Airport measured 0.18 inches of ice accretion. The winter weather conditions caused a tractor trailer to crash into a guide rail on Interstate 80 near mile marker 135 in Cooper Township, causing an estimated 50 to 100 gallons of diesel to leak from the tank. No waterways or storm drains were affected.

A propane truck overturned due to the winter weather conditions on State Route 664 in Gallagher Township, leading to an extended closure of the roadway. The driver of the truck was injured.

A light wintry mix fell across Tioga County during the morning and afternoon of March 3, 2026. The winter weather conditions caused a plow truck to slide off of State Route 414 near Plank Road in Morris Township. Multiple other vehicles were stuck on the roadway due to the icy conditions. No injuries were reported.
