A surge in surface high pressure will continue to dry things out
through the period, with a clearing in the sky coverage expected.
As a result, temperatures tonight are forecast to plummet into
the mid to upper 30s inland, and into the low 40s to low 50s
right along the coast. A few low-lying or drainage locations along
the northern Coastal Plains may briefly experience lows near
freezing by Wednesday morning. With winds remaining slightly
elevated at around 5-15 mph, minimum wind chills overnight will
range from the mid 20s inland to the low 40s along the coast. For
the trick-or-treaters, it will be a cold Halloween, with wind
chills dropping into the 40s areawide by 9-10 PM tonight. Stay
warm everyone!
Surface high pressure will remain in control on Wednesday, but
will gradually shift eastward through the end of the period. Dry
conditions will persist in general, but a more easterly flow
developing tomorrow night will allow for some moisture return.
Highs tomorrow will run around 3-8 degrees warmer, with maximum
temperatures in the low to mid 60s. Tomorrow night will be chilly
again with overnight lows ranging from the mid 30s inland to the
mid 50s right along the coast.

Key Messages:
- Gradual warming trend through end of week into early next week.
Surface high pressure ridge will remain over the coastal plains
Thursday through Friday with a weak onshore flow expected. Highs
will be in the lower 70s Thursday, around 10 degrees below normal.
But temperatures will show a warming trend Friday through Monday as
a weak upper level ridge moves over south Texas and surface winds
turn to the southeast. Highs will be around 90 over the Brush
Country and inland Coastal Bend Monday.
Models show a low amplitude upper trough moving through the
Mississippi River valley Monday and into the Ohio Valley Tuesday.
This could send a weak front into south Texas on Tuesday. With weak
nature of front, will only show slight cooling with the wind shift
on Tuesday. Moisture return will be minimal, so do not anticipate
rain chances improving with the front.
Easterly flow is expected to be weak for Thursday and Friday, so
coastal flood potential looks low. Latest PETSS guidance is
forecasting tide levels well below advisory criteria at high tide
for this period.

zones through Wednesday morning, and offshore through Wednesday
afternoon. Winds will gradually decrease thereafter to weak to
moderate levels by Wednesday night. Drier conditions are expected
to develop this evening, with rain chances coming to an end. A weak
easterly flow is expected Thursday through Friday. The flow will
be weak southeasterly Friday night through the weekend. Isolated
showers will be possible over the offshore waters through the
weekend.
