Lake effect snow developed during the overnight hours of January 23rd lasting into the morning hours of the 24th. Just over six inches of snow fell in portions of Lake and Porter counties. Snowfall reports include 6.4 inches in Merrillville, 6.2 inches in Portage, 6.0 inches six miles west of Valparaiso, and 6.0 inches a mile west of Lake of the Four Seasons.
