A band of heavy lake effect snow pivoted through La Porte County late January 23rd into the early morning hours of January 24th. Snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour were common within this band. Snowfall totals ranged between 4 and 8 inches across the county. There was a report of 7.5 inches of total snow accumulation near La Porte. Roads became snow covered and slick which led to slide-offs and accidents across the region.
