VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY ACROSS MUCH OF WEST CENTRAL
TEXAS TODAY...WITH WEST WINDS GUSTING ABOVE 45 MPH AT TIMES. THESE
WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH A VERY DRY AIR MASS TO PRODUCE DANGEROUS
FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS ALL OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS THIS
AFTERNOON. THE HIGH WINDS WILL ALSO AFFECT HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES
ENCOUNTERING STRONG CROSSWINDS. IN ADDITION...BLOWING DUST THIS
AFTERNOON ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE WESTERN BIG COUNTRY AND THE
WESTERN CONCHO VALLEY WILL RESULT IN LOWERED VISIBILITIES.

At 311 PM CST, the Abilene ASOS measured the peak wind gust from the west at 45 mph. The strongest wind gusting to near 45 mph began just before noon and continued through at least 311 PM when the strongest wind gust was measured. The strong winds blew down a power pole on Grape Street near Lowden. Grape Street was closed during the cleanup.

At 135 PM CST, the Sweetwater AWOS measured the highest wind gust from the west southwest at 46 mph. These strong winds went above 44 mph at around noon and continued through at least 135 PM when the strongest wind gust was measured. This strong wind blew down a power pole just north of Interstate 20 near Robert Lee Street.
