The Susquehanna River at Conklin rose slightly above its flood stage of 11 feet. The river at Conklin crested at 11.12 feet at 6:30 AM EST. The Susquehanna River at Bainbridge, Vestal and Waverly/Sayre also rose sharply but crested just below their respective flood stages. The rises were caused by localized thunderstorms with heavy rain on June 4th, followed by more thunderstorms with a cold front on June 5th. On the 5th these thunderstorms dropped one to four inches of rain along the north branch of the Susquehanna River above Conklin. Steady rain fell on the 6th but most amounts were less than half an inch. This rain the first week of June fell on an already moist ground from rain the week before.
