NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT OVER THE CWA DURING THE FORECAST PERIOD AS H5 RIDGE BUILDS OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. MODELS DROP A SHORT WAVE DOWN ACROSS NORTHEAST MONTANA TONIGHT AND PLACE IT OVER SOUTHEAST MONTANA BY DAYBREAK. AVN DIFFERS SLIGHTLY FROM ETA BY PLACING SHORT WAVE A BIT FURTHER WEST. CROSS-SECTION ANALYSIS INDICATES DECENT OMEGA VALUES TONIGHT ACROSS THE AREA WITH AN INCREASE IN MID AND LOWER LEVEL MOISTURE. SHORT WAVE EXITS STATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BUT CWA REMAINS UNDER MOIST NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. ENOUGH INSTABILITY AND LOW LEVEL MOISTURE AROUND THROUGH FIRST THREE PERIODS TO WARRANT LOW SCATTERED POPS. H5 RIDGE AXIS SHIFTS FURTHER EAST THURSDAY. EMANUEL EXTENDED DISCUSSION...NEW MRF AND ETA INDICATE STRONG WINDS FOR AREA WITH SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS. THEN UPPER RIDGE BUILDS OVER THE WEEKEND. ECMWF LOOKS MUCH DIFFERENT FROM MRF AND EXTRAPOLATION OF ETA FOR MONDAY. WILL ACCEPT MRF...WHICH FORECASTS A SHORT WAVE FROM NORTHWEST AND A CANADIAN PUSH MONDAY ENDING TUESDAY.
