A squall line of severe thunderstorms knocked down trees and power lines mainly across the southern half of the county. GPU Energy reported about 43,000 homes and businesses lost power in their Pennsylvania and New Jersey Service areas. The hardest hit areas were in Pennsylvania in Easton, the northern side of Bethlehem and Stroudsburg (Monroe County). The primary cause of the outages were trees on power lines. All power was restored by Monday evening the 12th. Lehigh Drive in Easton was closed through Monday the 12th because of downed trees. Farther to the north, fallen trees blocked two roads in Plainfield Township.
