Strong, persistent northwest winds behind a cold front produced orographically enhanced snows across the higher elevations of Fayette County. Snowfall totals of 4 to 6 inches were common over the mountain ridges in extreme eastern sections of the county, with lesser amounts of 2 to 3 inches reported at lower elevations across the remainder of the county.
