What happened

The episode as NWS CAR wrote it up.

Strong south/southeast winds developed across the region in advance of a low and cold front crossing Quebec province. The strongest winds occurred near the coast where winds were onshore and also across the higher terrain of the region. Winds gusted to around 54 mph (47 kts) at Bar Harbor and to around 45 mph (39 kts) at Bangor. Wind gusts to around 40 mph (35 kts) were common regionwide. Tree limbs were snapped off across the region. The combination of strong winds and falling tree limbs brought down many utility poles and power lines...producing scattered power outages. The most extensive power outages occurred in the Blue Hill region of coastal Hancock County where up to 8000 people were without power for a time. Other power outages were reported around the community of Machias in coastal Washington County. A trailer in the community of Perry...located in coastal Washington County...had its roof peeled off by the winds.
