.SYNOPSIS...
An active weather pattern will continue this weekend as a
stationary front just south of our area lifts north as a warm front
on Saturday.  Another cold front arrives from the west on Sunday
with another round of thunderstorms.  This cold front crosses our
region late Sunday and Sunday night.  Expect cool and dry high
pressure to return early next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The afternoon is turning out quite nice across the FA as drying
hipres builds in from the north. The frontal zone to the south
remains activated with periods of strong convec, however, bndry has
shifted further south and will remain so thru the evening and most
of the overnight period. Not real worried about dense fg overnight
as sfc td/s will lower across the nrn zones and increasing cloud
cover from the south will help keep temps well abv normal. Yet, with
all the precip this morning, a few pockets of dense fg will be
possible esp across the mtn valleys and escarpment areas.

The moist warm front will lift across the area during the day and
expect widespread light showers shortly after or arnd daybreak. Tne
srn NC mtns will likely get the most rain amts of arnd half an inch,
but overall there shud be no sigfnt hydro impact as stream levels
have a chance to recover/lower. A linger thunder threat will be had
as elevated instability accompanies the showers. Not expecting very
strong storms, but a few could reach SPS levels during the
afternoon. Max temps will be a little cooler than today due to the
early widespread cloud cover, yet still reach abt 5-7 degrees abv
normal levels as sfc winds shift s/ly in the afternoon.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 215 PM EDT Friday: Guidance in good agreement, even the NAM
which usually does better with any lingering CAD, shows the warm
front lifting north of the area Saturday night. Shower chances ramp
up, especially across the mountains in the developing moist
southerly flow. Lows will be nearly 20 degrees above normal.
Guidance is also in good agreement showing the cold front crossing
the area during the day Sunday, and could line up well with peak
heating. There is definitely a concern for another round of
organized severe tstms with this front. Bulk and effective shear
will be strong thanks to an intense LLJ. SREF probabilities are high
for surface, mixed layer, and most unstable CAPE values over 500
J/kg, but low for over 1000. Can't rule out a quasi-linear and/or
supercell storm mode depending on exactly how much CAPE can be
realized. So in light of that, the SPC Day 3 Convective Outlook has
the entire CWFA in a Slight Risk. Will keep the threat mention in
the HWO. Otherwise, Sunday will be warm and windy, and even feel a
little humid, with dew points into the 60s. Highs in the mid 70s to
80 east of the mountains. Precip chances taper off quickly Sunday
night as the front moves east with lingering breezy conditions.
Temps drop back to near-normal Sunday night in the wake of the cold
front. Dry conditions with diminishing winds expected Monday as high
pressure builds in. Highs will be near to slightly below normal.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 2 pm EDT Friday: Good agreement amongst global models provides
above normal confidence in the extended period. The progressive
pattern will continue into through the end of the week. A cool
continental air mass will modify during the first half of the week
while moisture slowly increases. A weak low tracks from the northern
Gulf coast Monday evening to off the Carolina coast late Tuesday.  A
transient 1030 mb high will maintain the dry air mass and large
diurnal swing in temperatures into Tuesday. By Wednesday, return
flow behind the high will support increasing low level moisture off
the Atlantic basin for at least increasing clouds for southern areas
if not supporting some shower activity.

Probably the biggest story is the emergence of a full latitude
trough and associated frontal system to impact the area Wednesday
night into Thursday.  It is too early for the details but this has
the potential to be a vigorous cold front with widespread
precipitation. Therefore, increasing the POPs ahead of this cold
front.  Temperatures will likely fall below normal at the end of the
week behind the front with Canadian air mass settling into the
region.

.AVIATION /19Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
At KCLT and elsewhere: Lingering MVFR CIGs at KCLT will continue to
scatter out this afternoon and all sites will remain dry and VFR
thru most of the overnight. A moist warm front will lift over the
region Sat and bring periods of -shra and lowering CIGs mainly
across the wrn zones and mtn valleys thru the latter TAF period.
Winds will become ne/ly to e/ly during the later overnight as hipres
builds in from the north...then expect afternoon winds at KCLT to
veer s/ly to sw/ly as a weak sfc ridge breaks down.

Outlook: Thunderstorms bringing flight restrictions are probable
Sunday. VFR conds return Mon with a couple more moist systems and
flight restrictions affecting the region beginning Tue.
