...The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg SC has 
issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in North Carolina...

  Swannanoa River At Biltmore affecting Buncombe County.


.Numerous rounds of heavy rainfall have affected the Middle French 
Broad and Swannanoa watersheds since Thursday morning, resulting in 
widespread accumulations of 2-4 inches across Buncombe County.  This 
rainfall is causing rapid rises along the French Broad and Swannanoa 
rivers and associated tributaries.  Expect nuisance to Minor 
flooding of adjacent low-lying areas, including farmland, 
boat-access areas, commercial properties, greenways, parks, and a 
few secondary roads between Asheville Airport and Woodfin, including 
areas of Asheville and Biltmore Village, beginning tonight and 
persisting into early Friday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for
  the Swannanoa River At Biltmore.
* Until Friday evening.
* At 10:45 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 9.1 feet and rising rapidly.
* Minor Flood Stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above Minor Flood Stage 
  around midnight tonight to a crest of 10.5 feet by 2am. A higher 
  crest between 10.5 and 11.5 feet is possible as additional 
  rainfall is expected tonight so please stay weather aware and 
  monitor river conditions closely.  The Swannanoa River will then 
  fall below Minor Flood Stage tomorrow morning.
* Impact...At 10.0 feet, Minor Flood Stage.  Backwater effects from 
  the Swannanoa River may be causing flooding along Sweeten Creek 
  forcing floodwaters onto Garfield St.  Swannanoa River floodwaters 
  are approaching and may be flooding parts of Swannanoa River Rd. 
  (NC 81), Caledonia Rd., Glendale Ave., and Thompson St.

  Swannanoa River At Biltmore affecting Buncombe County.

.Heavy rainfall has ended across the Swannanoa River watershed and 
additional rainfall is not expected.  The river has crested as the 
floodwave has passed into the French Broad River.  With the 
Swannanoa River falling below bankfull levels, flooding is no longer 
a threat and the Flood Warning will be cancelled.
