...The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg SC has 
issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in North Carolina...

  French Broad River At Marshall affecting Madison County.

.Numerous rounds of heavy rainfall have affected the French 
Broad watershed since Thursday morning, resulting in widespread 
accumulations of 1-3 inches across Madison County.  This rainfall is 
causing rapid rises along the French Broad River and associated 
tributaries. Additional high flows are moving down the French Broad 
River from Buncombe County.  These flows will force the French Broad 
River to exceed Minor Flood Stage near Marshall, requiring an 
upgrade of the current Flood Advisory to a Flood Warning for Minor 
flooding of boat-access areas, parks and greenways, secondary roads, 
residential and commercial land, and other flood-prone areas up and 
downstream of Marshall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

  the French Broad River At Marshall.
* From early this morning to Saturday morning.
* At 1:16 AM EDT Friday the stage was 8.4 feet and rising steadily.
* Minor Flood Stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending 
  at 1:16 AM EDT Friday was 8.4 feet.
* Forecast...The French Broad River will rise early this morning to 
  between 9.5 to 10.0 feet this afternoon. It will fall below Minor 
  Flood Stage later this evening.
* Impact...At 8.0 feet, Minor Flood Stage. The French Broad River is 
  approaching some buildings on Blannahassett Island and approaching 
  residential yards along Island Road. Minor flooding along Rollins 
  Road is likely. The river is approaching the railroad tracks in 
  the Back Street area.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, Minor flooding continues. The French Broad 
  River is close to the top of the railroad tracks and starting to 
  flood areas between Highway 70 and the normal riverbank. 
  Floodwaters may begin to reach buildings along Back Street and on 
  Blannahassett Island.
