635 WWUS81 KBUF 070927 SPSBUF Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Buffalo NY 527 AM EDT Wed Jul 7 2021 NYZ001-002-011-071015- Orleans-Genesee-Niagara- 527 AM EDT Wed Jul 7 2021 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTHEASTERN NIAGARA...WESTERN ORLEANS AND NORTHWESTERN GENESEE COUNTIES... At 527 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Newfane, or near Lockport, moving east at 30 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... Lockport, Medina, Newfane, Middleport, Waterport, Ridgeway, Shelby, Gaines, Lyndonville, Barker, Gasport, Knowlesville, Millville, Appleton and Olcott. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
