Flint River near Molena affecting Meriwether and Pike Counties
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

The Chattahoochee River near Whitesburg.
* From late tonight until Sunday afternoon.
* At 315 PM Friday the stage was 14.2 feet and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast to develop.
* Flood stage is 17 feet.
* The river is Forecast to rise above flood stage around midnight
tonight, then continue rising, reaching near 19.9 feet by Saturday
afternoon. The river is expected fall below flood stage Sunday
morning.
* At 15 feet, bankfull conditions are reached along the river upstream
and downstream from the gage on U.S. Highway 27 or Georgia Highway 16.
At 17 feet, flood Stage is reached with minor flooding in the woodlands
and fields along the river upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S.
Highway 27, or Georgia Highway 16 and flood waters reach the top of the
boat ramp at Riverside Park next to the bridge. The playground at a day
use area on the west side of the Chattahoochee Bend State Park will
also begin to flood.
At 19 feet, minor flooding continues in the woodlands and fields
upstream and downstream from the gage at U.S. Highway 27, or Georgia
Highway 16. The parking lot of Riverside Park next to the bridge will
begin to flood and a sod farm upstream also experiences flooding.
Flooding occurs on some unimproved dirt roads along the river. The
playground at a day use area in the Chattahoochee Bend State Park will
be under two feet of water and flood waters will surround tent platforms
on the North Camping Site of the park.

* Flood Warning for
The Flint River near Molena.
* From Saturday morning until Monday morning.
* At 3 PM Friday the stage was 21.8 feet and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast to develop.
* Flood stage is 28 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage early Saturday morning and
continue rising, reaching near 31.5 feet early Sunday morning. The river
is expected to fall below flood stage Monday morning.
* At 20 feet, bankfull conditions are reached along the river from Flat Shoals
Road to the Georgia Highway 74 bridge. At 22 feet, in this area, water begins
to surround a few homes and at 24 feet, the water level reaches the foundation
of a house on the left bank.
At 28 feet, flood stage is reached with minor flooding of the natural flood
plain near the gage. Flooding expands into the agricultural and wooded areas
downstream from the gage near the Georgia Highway 74 bridge. Elevated homes in
this location will see a foot or two of water underneath them.

The Suwanee Creek near Suwanee.
* From this afternoon until Saturday afternoon.
* At 315 PM Friday the stage was 7.4 feet and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast to develop.
* Flood stage is 8 feet.
* The creek is forecast to rise above flood stage by this evening, then
continue to rise, reaching near 8.8 feet early Saturday morning. The
river is expected to fall below flood stage later Saturday morning.
* At 8 feet, flood Stage is reached with minor flooding along the creek
upstream and downstream from the gage at U S Highway 23, or Buford Highway.
Portions of the Suwanee Creek Park off of Suwanee Creek Trail begin to flood
down to Martin Farm Road. This will also include areas behind the Suwanee
Elementary School and the George Pierce Park.
At 9 feet, minor flooding expands along the creek upstream and downstream
from the gage at U S Highway 23, or Buford Highway. Most of the Suwanee Creek
Greenway and trails are flooded from the Suwanee Creek Park to George Pierce
Park. The minor flooding will also begin to affect portions of the playground
area behind the Suwanee Elementary School.

* At 10 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek from near
Cumming to Alpharetta and Roswell. Backyards of homes off Seale
Drive and Gunter Court and portions of the Golf of Georgia are
under a foot of water. The Big Creek Greenway experiences
significant flooding up to 4 feet deep with closure of the paths.
This especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Mill Park. A large portion of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be under a two feet of
water.

level will be close to the bottom of the USGS gage house under the
bridge.

* The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by Tuesday
morning.
* At 28 feet...Minor flooding continues along the river upstream
and downstream from the gage on the 14th Street bridge. Portions of
the River Walk in Columbus will be flooded around one foot deep and
closed to the public. The Phenix City Amphitheater on the Alabama
side will begin to flood.
