An extended period of severe winter conditons is expected Tuesday
night through Friday. Extremely cold air will build down into the
region with dangerously cold wind chills expected during this
period. Accumulating, possibly significant lake effect snow is
possible east of Lake Erie during this period. Strong gusty winds
will likely cause periods of significant blowing and drifting snow
along with poor visibility.

...A BAND OF INTENSE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT NORTHWESTERN
WYOMING... CENTRAL ERIE...NORTHERN CHAUTAUQUA AND WESTERN GENESEE
COUNTIES...

At 1234 AM EST, A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall rates
of 3 inches per hour was found across South Buffalo and the
immediate southern and eastern suburbs. This band of heavy snow will
continue to drift slowly south through the Buffalo Southtowns, and
will also begin to move onshore from Hamburg to Dunkirk. Travel
along the NY Thruway along the Lake Erie shore southwest of Hamburg
will deteriorate rapidly.

If you must travel within this band, be prepared for severe winter
driving conditions with deep snow cover on roads and very poor
visibility.

This includes Interstate 90 between exits 60 and 52A, and near exit
48A.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.

NORTHERN LEWIS COUNTIES...

At 1237 AM EST, A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall rates
of 2 to 3 inches per hour will continue from near Watertown and
Adams eastward across Carthage and Croghan. This band is expected to
remain nearly stationary over the next few hours.

If you must travel within this band, be prepared for severe winter
driving conditions with deep snow cover on roads and very poor
visibility.

This includes Interstate 81 between exits 41 and 48.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra

...A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT SOUTHERN ERIE AND NORTHERN
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTIES...

At 504 AM EST, A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall rates
of 2 inches per hour will continue along the Lake Erie shore from
Ripley to Silver Creek, and extending inland across the Boston
Hills. This band of heavy snow will remain nearly stationary early
this morning.

Travel will be extremely difficult in this band of heavy snow. If
you must travel, be prepared for severe winter driving conditions
with deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility.

This includes Interstate 90 between exits 61 and 57A.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
