COUNTIES...

At 406 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain has already 
fallen based on radar estimates. Flash flooding is expected to begin 
shortly if it is not already occurring.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in flash flooding 
and debris flow moving through the Hayden Pass burn scar streams and 
drainages. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and 
other loose materials.

Flash flooding will impact areas in and near the burn scar.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

COUNTIES...

At 431 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding on 
County Road 40 near Coaldale.  The road is flooding and impassable. 
County Road 40 runs adjacent to Butter Creek, on the north side of 
Highway 50. Radar estimates up to 2 inches of rain has already 
fallen. Flash flooding is occurring and likely to continue as more 
rain moves across the scar through 5:30 PM MDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
