...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM MDT FOR
WEST CENTRAL HUERFANO AND NORTHEASTERN COSTILLA COUNTIES...

At 257 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area.  Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow 
moving through the Spring Creek, Pass Creek, and South Oak Creek 
drainages on the Spring Burn Scar, north of US160. The debris flow 
can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of west central
Huerfano and northeastern Costilla Counties.

One thunderstorm in the warning has weakened, but another 
thunderstorm is northwest of the region, moving to the southeast. 
This second storm could be within the warning region within the next 
30 minutes.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM MDT FOR
WEST CENTRAL HUERFANO AND NORTHEASTERN COSTILLA COUNTIES...

At 419 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area on the northern portions of the Spring 
Burn scar. Up to one and a half inches of rain has already fallen. 
Flash flooding is expected to continue. Another storm may move into 
this area later this evening and additional Flash Flood Warnings may 
become necessary.  

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow 
moving through the Pass Creek, Spring Branch, and South Oak Creek 
drainages. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and 
other loose materials.

Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of west central 
Huerfano and northeastern Costilla Counties over and near the Spring 
Burn Scar.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR WEST CENTRAL HUERFANO AND NORTHEASTERN
COSTILLA COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 515 PM MDT...

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose an 
threat on the Spring burn scar. However, additional thunderstorm 
development is possible this evening which may result in additional 
flash flooding should they impact the Spring burn scar.  Please 
continue to heed any remaining road closures and monitor the weather 
closely for any additional flash flood warnings through tonight.
