.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.

woodlands and wetlands along the river upstream and downstream from
a gage located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side of Avant Mine
off Adams Road in Washington County. The water level will be at the
top of the boat ramp.

The Big Creek near Cumming.
* From this afternoon until late tonight.
* At 945 AM Wednesday the stage was 3.5 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue
to rise to near 6.9 feet by late this afternoon. The creek will fall
below flood stage by tonight.
* At 7 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the natural
flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at
Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large portions of the
sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway will be flooded.
The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be
covered with around two feet of water. A portion of the sidewalk
under Majors Road will be covered with around 3 feet of water.

* Moderate flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 21 feet.
* The river is expected to fall to 23 feet by Friday morning...then begin to rise to near 25 feet by Monday morning.
* At 25.5 feet...Significant flooding continues in the woodlands and
agricutural areas upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S.
Highway 80. The flood waters will be around two feet deep on Rex
Miller Road...downstream left bank of the Highway 80 bridge and Old
River Lane...upstream and left bank from the bridge. Some of the
homes on these roads will begin to experience flooding. Also a few
homes begin to flood on River Ridge Road...downstream and right
bank from the U.S. Highway 80 bridge.

* Moderate flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* The river will continue to fall to 18 feet by Sunday morning. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* At 21.0 feet...Significant flooding continues in the woodlands and
pastures upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S. Highway 280.
The lower portion of the access road to the boat ramp on the
Wheeler County side of the river is flooded. Around a dozen homes
on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery County become
flooded. Portions of Dead River Road will be covered by at least 3
feet of water.

* At 10 PM Wednesday the stage was 25.2 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 27 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 29.2 feet overnight tonight.The river will fall
below flood stage by Saturday morning.
* At 30 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the
woodlands and pasture upstream and downstream from the gage near
the Georgia Highway 22 and 24 bridge. Fishing Creek backs up and a
few buildings along the creek will be flooded. Also Tanyard Branch
Stream between East Thomas and East Charleston Streets in
Milledgeville will flood. Sinclair Dam will likely have four gates
open to reach this height.

* At 19.0 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the
woodlands and wetlands along the river upstream and downstream from
a gage located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side of Avant Mine
off Adams Road in Washington County. The water level will begin to
surround the elevated USGS gage house.

steady.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* The river will rise to near 23.8 feet by Sunday morning
then begin falling.
* At 23.0 feet...Moderate flooding continues. Portions of the Old
Balls Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp becomes flooded with a
foot of water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat
ramp is under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of
the woodlands near the river continues.

* At 515 AM Thursday the stage was 25.1 feet...and
falling.
* Moderate flooding is occurring.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* The river will begin to rise and rise to near 26.8 feet by Monday evening.
Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* At 27.0 feet...Significant flooding expands into the woodlands and
agricutural areas upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S.
Highway 80. The flood waters will be around 4 feet deep on Rex
Miller Road and Old River Lane. Several homes on these roads will
be under two feet of water. Also a few homes on River Ridge Road
will be flooded with a foot of water. Portions of the Riverview
Park Golf Course will be flooded.

* Moderate flooding is occurring.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* At 21.0 feet...Significant flooding continues in the woodlands and
pastures upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S. Highway 280.
The lower portion of the access road to the boat ramp on the
Wheeler County side of the river is flooded. Around a dozen homes
on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery County become
flooded. Portions of Dead River Road will be covered by at least 3
feet of water.

the gage behind the water treatment plant off Mauldin Road. A boat
ramp and small parking lot on the upstream and right bank side of
the Georgia Highway 136 Connector will be under at least 8 feet of
water. Flood water will begin to fill in low areas near athletic
fields at the Harris River Park on Mauldin Road.

the river...or around one quarter mile from Henderson Mill Road
will begin to flood.

to back up and spread further into woodland areas and cover some
roads. Some structures near the creek will begin to flood. Tanyard
Branch Stream continues to flood. Sinclair Dam will likely have six
gates open to reach this height.

north of Georgia Highway 57 will be under one to three feet of
water. The water level reaches the bottom of the USGS gaging
equipment near the boat ramp. Widespread flooding up to several
feet deep of the woodlands near the river occurs.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 23.8 feet on Nov 14 2009.

Highway 80. The flood waters will be around 4 feet deep on Rex

* The river will fall to a stage near 17.9 feet by early Monday morning...then begin rising. The river is expected to rise to near 19.8 feet by Tuesday evening. Additional rises are expected thereafter.
* At 20 feet...Moderate flooding begins. Significant flooding
occurs in the woodlands and pastures upstream and downstream from
the gage on U.S. Highway 280. The access road to the boat ramp on
the Wheeler County side of the river begins to flood. Around a
dozen homes on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery
County become surrounded with water. A few homes will have some

* Between 19 and 20 feet...The river level approaches moderate
flood levels. Significant flooding occurs in the woodlands and
wetlands along the river upstream and downstream from the gage
located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side of the Avant Mine
off Adams Road in Washington County. The water will be around
two feet deep around an elevated USGS gage house and the dirt
road by the boat ramp will begin to flood.

Saturday evening...then begin falling.
* At 23 feet...Moderate flooding continues with portions of the Old
Balls Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp flooded with a foot or
more of water. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat ramp is
under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of the
woodlands near the river continues.
At 25 feet...Major flooding occurs. Most of Old Balls Ferry Road
north of Georgia Highway 57 will be under one to three feet of
water and the water level reaches the bottom of the USGS gaging
equipment near the boat ramp. Widespread flooding up to several
feet deep of the woodlands near the river occurs.

At 27 feet...Significant moderate flooding expands into the

gage on U.S. Highway 80. The flood waters will be around 4 feet
