NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

AREAS AFFECTED...FAR WEST TX

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 276...

VALID 140437Z - 140530Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 276
CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...DAMAGING WINDS MAY BE NOTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH BOWING MCS
AS IT PROGRESSES SEWD ACROSS THE WATCH.

DISCUSSION...MATURE MCS HAS EVOLVED ACROSS SERN NM/FAR WEST TX LATE
THIS EVENING. THIS COMPLEX OF STORMS IS SPREADING SEWD ALONG A
CORRIDOR OF ENHANCED LOW LEVEL WARM ADVECTION WELL AHEAD OF DIGGING
SHORT-WAVE TROUGH. OVER THE LAST HOUR OR SO A WELL DEFINED BOW-TYPE
STRUCTURE HAS DEVELOPED ALONG THE LEADING EDGE OF THE MCS OVER
WARD/REEVES COUNTIES. WINDS GUSTED TO 62KT AT KPEQ WHEN THE SQUALL
LINE PASSED THIS SITE AT 0414Z AND DAMAGING WINDS LIKELY PERSIST
GIVEN THE BOWING STRUCTURE. GIVEN THE 35KT SEWD STORM MOTION THIS
ACTIVITY COULD APPROACH THE SERN CORNER OF WW276 BY 0630Z. IF
PRESENT TRENDS CONTINUE...TERRELL AND BREWSTER COUNTIES MAY NEED TO
BE ADDED TO THE WATCH.
