CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 161...

VALID 140214Z - 140315Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 161
CONTINUES.

STORMS WILL MOVE INTO SE KS FROM N-CNTRL OK THIS EVENING WITH SOME
REDEVELOPMENT POSSIBLE AS DRYLINE CONTINUES TO RETREAT. MAIN THREAT
WILL BE SPORADIC INSTANCES OF NEAR-SEVERE HAIL.

A GOOD PORTION OF THE AIR MASS ACROSS CURRENT WW 161 HAS BEEN WORKED
OVER BY EARLIER CONVECTION...EXCEPT WRN SECTION OF THE WATCH AREA.
AS THE BOUNDARY LAYER CONTINUES TO COOL THIS EVENING STORMS WILL
TEND TO BECOME MORE ELEVATED AND HAIL WILL BE THE MAIN THREAT AS
MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES REMAIN STEEP. WHILE WIND SHEAR PROFILES AND
MARGINAL INSTABILITY WILL SUPPORT SEMI-DISCRETE STORMS...RADAR
TRENDS SUGGEST STORMS ACROSS NRN OK ARE STRUGGLING TO MAINTAIN
STRONG UPDRAFTS ON MORE THAN AN ISOLATED BASIS. THEREFORE...DO NOT
EXPECT TO EXTEND/REISSUE SEVERE WW BEYOND 03Z EXPIRATION TIME BUT
CONVECTIVE TRENDS WILL BE MONITORED.
