MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 2297
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1120 PM CST MON NOV 07 2011

AREAS AFFECTED...NWRN TX THROUGH CNTRL AND NERN OK...SERN KS AND
SWRN MO

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 871...873...

VALID 080520Z - 080645Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 871...873...CONTINUES.

THREAT FOR MAINLY ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND WILL PERSIST NEXT SEVERAL
HOURS...BUT COUPLE OF ISOLATED TORNADOES REMAIN POSSIBLE. GREATEST
WIND THREAT EXISTS FROM CNTRL THROUGH S-CNTRL OK. VERY HEAVY RAIN
ASSOCIATED WITH TRAINING STORMS WILL PERSIST FROM NWRN TX THROUGH
NERN OK INTO THE EARLY MORNING.

LATE THIS EVENING A SQUALL LINE EXTENDS FROM NERN OK NEAR TULSA SWWD
TO OKLAHOMA CITY THEN SWWD INTO NWRN TX. CNTRL OK PORTION OF THE
LINE HAS ACCELERATED AND HAS DEVELOPED A BOWING STRUCTURE AND
EMBEDDED SUPERCELL MOVING EWD AT ABOUT 45-50 KT. ANOTHER BOWING
SEGMENT IS MOVING THROUGH NERN OK AND MAY ALSO POSE A RISK FOR
DAMAGING WIND DURING THE NEXT HOUR. HOWEVER...THE NERN OK STORMS MAY
EVENTUALLY WEAKEN AS THEY MOVE INTO THE LESS UNSTABLE REGIME IN SWRN
MO. OTHER MORE DISCRETE STORMS ARE DEVELOPING ACROSS SRN OK NEAR AND
EAST OF ARDMORE LIFTING NWD. THESE STORMS CURRENTLY APPEAR
ELEVATED...BUT COULD POSE AN ISOLATED TORNADO RISK IF THEY CAN
BECOME ROOTED IN THE BOUNDARY LAYER. THUNDERSTORMS ARE ALSO
INCREASING OVER NWRN TX WITHIN ZONE OF DEEPER ASCENT ASSOCIATED WITH
UPPER JET EXIT REGION. STRONG VERTICAL SHEAR AND LARGE HODOGRAPHS
WILL CONTINUE TO PROMOTE EMBEDDED MESOCYCLONES AND BOWING
STRUCTURES. SWLY FLOW ALOFT PARALLEL TO THE INITIATING BOUNDARIES
WILL SUPPORT MANY CELLS TRAINING NEWD...RESULTING IN VERY HEAVY
RAIN.
