THE MIDLAND-ODESSA NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  DAWSON COUNTY IN TEXAS

* UNTIL 700 AM CDT

* AT 252 AM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR DETECTED NUMEROUS
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN ACROSS DAWSON COUNTY...
  MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH.

* SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED BY THIS FLASH FLOOD WARNING INCLUDE...   
  LAMESA...MIDWAY...THE UNION COMMUNITY...FRIENDSHIP...KEY...
  ARVANA...HANCOCK...AND PUNKIN CENTER.

DURING THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS...THUNDERSTORMS HAVE PRODUCED AN
ESTIMATED 1 TO 2 INCHES OF WIDESPREAD RAINFALL ACROSS DAWSON 
COUNTY. IT IS BELIEVED THAT MANY AREAS HAVE RECEIVED AS MUCH AS
3 TO 4 INCHES...ESPECIALLY TO THE SOUTH AND EAST OF LAMESA.

ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN ARE HEADED INTO DAWSON
COUNTY AT THIS HOUR...AND IT APPEARS THAT HEAVY RAIN COULD 
CONTINUE FALLING ACROSS THE AREA FOR THE NEXT ONE TO TWO HOURS. 

RAPID FLOODING OF AREA ROADS...CREEKS...AND NORMALLY DRY WASHES
WILL OCCUR ACROSS DAWSON COUNTY FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. 
MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO AVOID TRAVEL IF POSSIBLE...AND TO STAY 
AWAY FROM FLOODED SECTIONS OF ROADWAY. DURING THE DARKNESS OF 
NIGHT...FLOODED SECTIONS OF ROAD MAY NOT BE VISIBLE TO MOTORISTS.
