THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON HAS EXTENDED
THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 445 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHEAST OHIO
 
   ...ATHENS COUNTY...VINTON COUNTY
 
AT 140 AM...COUNTY OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT STREAMS AND CREEKS WERE STILL
FLOODING IN PORTIONS OF VINTON AND ATHENS COUNTY.
 
IN VINTON COUNTY...THE EASTERN PART OF THE COUNTY WAS HIT THE HARDEST.
MANY ROADS WERE STILL CLOSED.  THE RAIN WAS TAPERING OFF...BUT FLOODING
PROBLEMS WILL LINGER FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS.
 
IN ATHENS COUNTY...IT WAS A SIMILAR SITUATION.  THE WESTERN PART OF THE
COUNTY WAS HARDEST HIT.  SOME ROADS WERE CLOSED.
 
ALTHOUGH THESE AREAS WILL SEE ADDITIONAL SHOWERS THROUGH THE EARLY
MORNING HOURS...THE RAIN IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE HEAVY.
 
 
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND POLICE BARRICADES.
