THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 100 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF

EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA...CARVER...HENNEPIN...SOUTHERN ANOKA...
 SCOTT...RAMSEY...DAKOTA AND SOUTHERN WASHINGTON


HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE TWIN CITY METROPOLITAN AREA THIS EVENING
HAS CREATED A DANGEROUS FLOODING SITUATION.  3 TO 6 INCHES OF
RAIN HAS SO FAR BEEN REPORTED OVER A LARGE PORTION OF THE
TWIN CITIES.  WEATHER RADAR INDICATES THAT THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE
TO FORM TO THE SOUTHWEST OF THE TWIN CITIES AND APPRAOCH THIS AREA
AADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE PAST MIDNIGHT
NUMEROUS HIGHWAYS ARE FLOODED IN THE TWIN CITIES MAKING TRAVEL
VERY DANGEROUS.  BASEMENTS AND SMALL STREAMS ARE ALSO LIKELY TO
FLOOD.  STAY AWAY FROM CULVERTS AND FAST FLOWING DRAINAGE DITCHES.
DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE THROUGH AREAS COVERED WITH FLOOD WATER.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURING OR IS
IMMINENT.  BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER
TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH
FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD
WATERS.  DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER
BEGINS RISING.*
