- Winter Storm and High Wind in Virginia, February 4 to 6, 2010A strong low pressure system moved from the Gulf Coast to off the North Carolina coast. A secondary low moved west of Virginia over Kentucky, bringing a nose of warm air in aloft.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Virginia, January 22 to 23, 2016A significant winter storm pushed from southwest to northeast, spreading periods of moderate to heavy snowfall across portions of southwest Virginia January 22nd through the 23rd. Snowfall continued through the day Friday and into Saturday before coming to an end after sunset.

There was blowing and drifting of snow from winds which gusted over 40 mph at times. The snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain occasionally during the late morning hours.

- Winter Storm in Virginia, January 25 to 26, 2004An area of low pressure developed off the coast of North Carolina and tracked north. This storm produced widespread snow, sleet and freezing drizzle over the region. Five to six inches of snow fell over Northern and Central Virginia.
- Winter Storm in Virginia, January 17 to 18, 2018A cold front and subsequent closed low aloft brought measurable snow to the region beginning early in the morning on Wednesday the 17th.

- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Virginia, February 4 to 5, 1998A powerful nor'easter, laden with deep moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, produced a prolonged period of mixed snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain across the northwest corner of Virginia.
- Winter Storm in Virginia, February 11 to 13, 2025A high pressure wedge was situated over the region as a surface low pressure system developed over the southern Plains, with an expansive area of precipitation that shifted eastward into the Mid Atlantic during the day of February 11.
- Winter Storm in Virginia, February 11 to 13, 2025A long duration winter storm impacted the Wakefield forecast area from February 11 until February 13. A series of shortwaves in west to southwest flow aloft tracked over the area during this time, bringing several waves of precipitation into the area.
- Winter Storm and High Wind in Virginia, October 28 to 31, 2012Hurricane Sandy moved north off the Atlantic Coast and combined with a complex low pressure system and deepening trough over the eastern part of the U.S., and then turned west northwest and into New Jersey into Pennsylvania, slowing down and then drifting north.
- Winter Storm in Virginia, December 8 to 10, 2018A low pressure system tracked eastward along the Gulf Coast and spread moisture northward toward the Mid Atlantic. Meanwhile, high pressure to the north allowed temperatures to fall into the 20s, which caused the moisture to mostly fall as heavy snow.
- Blizzard and Winter Storm in Virginia, February 9 to 11, 2010An area of low pressure moved from the Mississippi coast to off the Carolina coast. At the same time another low moved through the Ohio Valley, putting southwest Virginia in the middle of the two.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Virginia, February 11 to 12, 2006A historic snowstorm occurred between February 11-12 across the Mid-Atlantic. Storm total snowfall across much of Northern and Central Virginia ranged generally between 8-14 inches.
- Winter Storm in Virginia, December 3, 2000A winter storm struck parts of extreme southern and southeastern Virginia. The storm affected a relatively small area, but the areas that had snow received some hefty totals.
- Winter Storm in Virginia, February 5 to 6, 2010A potent area of low pressure strengthened over the central portion of the nation on the fifth of February. The storm system slowly moved through the Mid-Atlantic during the night of the 5th before redeveloping off the Mid-Atlantic coast on 6th.
- Winter Storm and Strong Wind in Virginia, February 14 to 16, 2016A strong winter storm took a favorable track for heavy snow and a wintry mix, moving from the southeast U.S. into New England. This resulted in widespread heavy snow across southwest Virginia.
