Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

A cold front backed south and westward through eastern and central NM during the early morning hours of June 14th. Abundant low-level moisture pushed in behind this front, reaching the Continental Divide. This provided fuel for thunderstorm development during the early afternoon hours of the 14th with on such severe thunderstorm producing severe wind gusts in Rio Rancho. Afternoon thunderstorms developed again over the northern mountains and along the central mountain chain of NM June 15th. There were reports of 8 inch tree branches down in Taos landing over power lines from severe thunderstorm wind gusts. Other thunderstorms advanced eastward off the Sangre de Cristo Mountains organizing into a line producing severe wind gusts through northeastern NM. This line of storms over northeastern NM eventually advanced all the way through east-central NM and into the TX Panhandle. Severe wind gusts reaching 60 mph or more were observed in Guadalupe County, including at Santa Rosa Lake State Park.

Thunderstorm wind gust knocked down a few 8 inch or larger poplar tree limbs down over power lines near Camino de la Placita and Beimer Avenue in Taos, NM.
Thunderstorm outflow gusting to 60 mph at the Thompson Cattle Ranch ZiaMet station.
Personnel at the Santa Rosa Lake State Park estimated 50 to 60 mph wind gusts.
The Tucumcari Airport measured a 62 mph thunderstorm wind gust.
A trained spotter estimated 50 to 65 mph wind gusts with blowing dust.
