A heavy band of lake effect snow clipped portions of Huron and Sanilac counties late on February 6th into the early morning hours of February 7th. While the event produced localized snow accumulations of 3 inches, northwest winds gusting 40 to 50 mph contributed to significant blowing and drifting snow.

A heavy band of lake effect snow clipped portions of Huron and Sanilac counties late on February 6th into the early morning hours of February 7th. While the event produced localized snow accumulations of 3 inches, northwest winds gusting 40 to 50 mph contributed to significant blowing and drifting snow. Whiteout conditions were reported, especially closer to the Lake Huron shoreline and in rural areas. Numerous vehicles were stranded due to whiteout conditions. Bitterly cold conditions also settled in as the heavy snow and strong winds arrived. Wind chill values fell to around 10 to 12 below zero.
