A winter storm brought periods of snow and windy conditions during the daytime of January 12th. More snow and very windy conditions developed during the early morning hours of January 13th. Storm total snow accumulations of 6 to 11 inches were reported across much of southwest Lower Michigan, with 3 to 6 inches of storm total snow accumulation across south central Lower Michigan. The combination of snow and blowing snow produced dangerous travel conditions.

After a lull during the evening hours of January 12th, lake enhanced and lake effect snow moved back in during the early morning hours of January 13th. Storm total snowfall accumulations of 6 to 11 inches were reported. The public reported storm total snow accumulations of 9.5 inches 2 miles southeast of Shoreham, MI. Strong west to southwest winds gusting as high as 40 to 45 mph on the morning of January 13th produced significant blowing and drifting snow resulting in slick road conditions and limited visibilities at times. Numerous accidents and slide-offs were reported across the region.
