A cold front moved through the area during the late morning through the afternoon hours. Strong winds with occasional gusts in excess of 40 mph were reported with the frontal passage. The strong winds caused a large palm tree to fall on a man that was walking in Highline Park in Phoenix, killing him.

A large palm tree fell directly on a man walking in Highline Park in Phoenix, killing him. There was a peak wind gust of 45 mph reported by a Citizen Weather Observer Site located nearby.
