Snow, sleet, and patchy freezing rain overspread the area on March 3, before gradually changing over to light rain from southwest to northeast. 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet was observed from the central mountains into northeastern Pennsylvania. Any ice accretion was generally minimal and confined to higher elevations.

One to two inches of snow and sleet produced slick roads across Blair County during the afternoon of March 3, 2023. As a result, a box truck slid into the median of Old Route 22 in Allegheny Township, Blair County and produced a small diesel fuel spill. The road was closed briefly so that tow trucks could remove the box truck.

An inch or two of wet snow and sleet led to slick roads across Schuylkill County on March 3, 2023, resulting in an accident involving a tractor Trailer on I-81 southbound on the bridge over Mollystown Road in Pine Grove Township. The trailer ended up hanging off the bridge over Mollystown Road, causing a hazard to the road below. There was a lane restriction on I-81 southbound for nearly 6 hours while the truck was removed and the bridge was checked for structural damage.
