Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Thursday night. A mostly dry and
stable WNW flow was positioned over SE Idaho early this afternoon.
Satellite imagery was showing some weak convective buildups in the
wedge from Salmon to Lost Trail Pass to Monida where isolated
thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon and early this
evening. The models were showing short-wave energy rotating SSE into
the region overnight and through the day Thursday which should serve
to destabilize the atmosphere enough to support isolated to
scattered thunderstorm development across the CNTRL mountains,
Montana Divide region, and south-central mountains Thursday afternoon
and evening. Light NE winds are anticipated within the Snake River
Plain Thursday morning but should remain below Advisory conditions
across American Falls Reservoir. By late Thursday night into Friday
morning the NE winds look to be a little more enhanced with the
potential for a lake wind event across American Falls through the
morning hours. Daytime highs continue to gradually warm to
climatological norms by Thursday. Huston
.LONG TERM...Friday through next Wednesday. The long-term period of
the forecast will be dominated by a warming trend under the nrn
reaches of a ridge of high pressure anchored over Arizona and New
Mexico. This setup will allow high temps to return to the 90s by Sun
across the ern Magic Valley, Raft River region, and lower Snake
Plain, with those readings expanding north/east to most lower-
elevation population centers Mon/Tue. Shortwave disturbances riding
over the ridge may still be able to generate isolated diurnally-
driven showers/t-storms, especially Fri/Sat, and especially north of
the Snake Plain, with those precip chances backing off slightly from
Sun onward as the ridge amplifies northward a bit. Looking out
toward Tue/Wed next week, all long-range models feature some version
of a more prominent shortwave trough to our north trying to cut
through/flatten the nrn extent of the ridge, but with differences in
the details including timing and how close the feature might pass to
our forecast area, thus confidence in meaningful changes to the
overall pattern are low. This feature COULD at least increase
regional winds, which would be a fire wx concern as finer fuels will
have just endured multiple days of hot and dry conditions. 01
&&
.AVIATION...Forecast confidence is high in mostly sunny/clear, dry,
VFR conditions at all southeast Idaho terminals today/tonight, with
winds holding under 10kts. Beautiful conditions for aviation!
Looking ahead to Thu, a trough dropping into the region will once
again increase chances for at least isolated afternoon/eve t-storms,
with the best chance at this juncture appearing to be KSUN and KDIJ.
With the longer 30-hr TAF period, have introduced VCTS at KSUN so
far. Winds will also become established more firmly out of the SW
during the afternoon compared to today's more light/variable
conditions. 01
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...The main story over the next week will be a
warming/drying trend, supported by a ridge of high pressure anchored
over Arizona and New Mexico which will amplify northward over the
Great Basin and nrn Rockies with time. As 90s return to the forecast
at lower elevations, sub-15-percent RH values will expand today/Thu
into Zones 425/wrn 410, backing off briefly Fri/Sat to above 15
percent, then returning Sun and beyond expanding into portions of
all zones Mon/Tue/Wed coincident with our warmest temps. Low
coverage of critical fuels and fairly light winds will be limiting
factors for securing a critical fire wx day. That mid-week shortwave
trough mentioned in the long-term discussion above, however, may
increase regional winds atop continued critical RH values, on the
heels of multiple days of hot and dry conditions for most areas,
depending on how close it tracks to our region. At this time,
Tue/Wed bring our best chance of this combination, although
confidence remains low this far out. Otherwise, the ridge will tend
to suppress t-storms, with the best chance of at least isolated
cells Thu/Fri/Sat afternoons, especially across Zones 475, 476, and
411. 01
