.SYNOPSIS...
The remnants of Ophelia will meander offshore for the rest of
the afternoon, resulting in onshore flow and occasional rain.
High pressure over southern Quebec and the Northeastern states
will press southward through early Thursday. An upper level low
will approach later Thursday and will pass through on Friday
with an increased chance of rain. Thereafter, high pressure will
expand southward from New England down the Appalachians for the
weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Low clouds, light rain, and a brisk northeast flow will continue
for the rest of the afternoon as a weak coastal low lingers off
the Delmarva coast. Model guidance suggests weak, strung out shortwave
energy arriving this afternoon from the west and meeting up with
our weak surface low off the coast. This will keep light rain over
much of the region this afternoon before diminishing north to south
this evening. Northeast winds will begin to diminish this evening
and into the overnight hours.

Gradual improvement begins to filter in this evening with our Canadian
high shifting southward and gaining footing across the region. Light
rain and drizzle will end with clouds slowly breaking overnight.
Temps will cool off into the mid 40s to mid 50s.

Ophelia's remnants drift southward away from us Wednesday as high
pressure builds in from the north. This should allow clouds to break
and the sun to return, even though the northeast flow will remain
but not as strong as today. Highs will be in the 60s.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
For Wednesday night, the high pressure ridge that was across the
region during the day will quickly weaken and retreat back to the
north. It will be replaced by an upper trough advancing from the
Midwest. A weak coastal trough or small surface will develop as
this trough advances east towards our region. Unfortunately, after
several cloudy showery days already this week, that more showers
will be around for Thu/Fri. We'll have chance pops for Thu and chance
and some low-end likely pops for Friday. The rainfall totals will
not be as much as last weekend, with amounts in total around 1/4 inch
for western areas and closer to an inch for this shore and Delmarva
regions.

As it will be mostly cloudy much of the time and winds will be onshore,
temperatures will be in the below normal category with highs mostly
favoring the 60s and lows in the 50s. As usual, readings cooler far
N/W and milder for Delmarva

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
After some clouds and showers Fri night and early Saturday (coastal
areas), dry weather is expected for the long term part of the forecast.
An upper low and weak surface low will be over the region Fri afternoon
and evening and it moves away Fri night. We will have chance pops
for Fri night as the feature moves off. Clouds will diminish from
west to east overnight. Patchy fog is possible overnight Fri.

A strong upper ridge builds up from the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast
Sat/Sun. A period of fair weather begins Sat and continues into next
week. Unlike the present week, several dry days and mild temperatures
are expected. Highs will be near normal Sunday and then go above
normal for Mon/Tue. Highs could reach the low 80s in urban areas
early next week.

.AVIATION /18Z TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Rest of this afternoon...MVFR with occasional IFR conditions.
Some light rain or drizzle will continue. Northeast winds 10-20
knots with gusts 20-30 knots near the coast.

Tonight...Ceilings and visibilities improve to VFR most areas.
Clouds with perhaps some lower CIGS for KACY/KMIV.

Wednesday...Sub-VFR possible especially in the morning due to
low cigs, though cigs likely improve in the afternoon. Winds
east-northeast around 10 kts.

Outlook...
Wednesday night...VFR. Winds east-northeast 10 knots.

Thursday...Sub-VFR possible in early morning low clouds and
again in the afternoon as shower chances increase from south to
north. Winds east-northeast still around 10 kts. Low confidence.

Friday...Sub-VFR possible especially in the morning due to low
clouds and showers. Winds northeasterly 10-15 kts. Low confidence.

Saturday...Sub-VFR possible early due to low clouds. Winds
northeasterly 10-15 k ts. Low confidence.

Sunday...VFR expected.

.MARINE...
Northeast gales and high seas continue for the ocean waters
through the afternoon, with Small Craft Advisory conditions over
the Delaware Bay. Winds will begin to diminish tonight,
gradually dropping down to Small Craft criteria with seas slowly
diminishing to 7-9 ft.

Outlook...
Wednesday night through Saturday...A prolonged period of Small
Craft Advisory conditions expected with seas of 5-8 ft due to
persistent northeasterly flow through the time frame. Worst
conditions look to be Saturday when winds may gust up to 30 kts.
Gusts mostly staying below 25 kts Thursday and Friday but seas
may still approach 7-8 ft both days. Showers Thu/Fri but mostly
Fair  for Sat.

Rip currents...

A northeast wind 20 to 25 MPH and breaking waves around 4 to 8
feet will result in a HIGH risk for the development of dangerous
rip currents along the coasts of Delaware and New Jersey today.
Stay out of the surf.

While the northeast wind is forecast to decrease to 10 to 15
MPH on Wednesday and breaking waves may drop slightly, the rip
current risk will remain HIGH due in part to a long period
easterly swell.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
An increasing northeast wind will push additional water up
along the coasts of New Jersey and Delaware through today. The
pattern will likely result in some spotty minor tidal flooding
again with the morning high tide cycle today.

Our main concern remains on the high tide cycle from this
evening into tonight. Positive tidal departures are forecast to
increase back into the +1.5 to +2.5 foot range along the coasts
of New Jersey and Delaware by that time. As a result, we are
anticipating moderate tidal flooding focusing on Atlantic County
and Cape May County in New Jersey, and Sussex County and Kent
County in Delaware. Those areas remain under a Coastal Flood
Warning.

Widespread minor flooding is expected for our remaining tidal
areas in New Jersey and Delaware, and for the tidal Delaware
River and its tidal tributaries from this evening into tonight.
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for those locations.

The northeast flow should prevent any tidal flooding issues on
the upper eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay.

This week's full (Harvest) moon will have particularly high
astronomical tides associated with it. Based on the latest
guidance showing a continued but somewhat weakening onshore
flow, we may see additional periods of minor tidal flooding
through the end of the week.
