Tonight through Wednesday night...
Main forecast concerns continue to be on ongoing flooding and
strong winds through Wednesday...
A trough and associated deepening low centered over southern
Canada have brought windy conditions to the area today, along with
a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures have been
in the 50s and 60s over the lower elevations today, with
temperatures in the mountains in the upper 20s and 30s, slowing
the snowmelt. Snow levels over the mountains remain between 7-8k
feet. The breezy westerly winds will continue into the evening and
overnight as the low slowly tracks across southern Canada. A High
Wind Warning in effect for portions of the western foothills
remains in effect until midnight tonight, where westerly wind
gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Heading into Wednesday, the low
lifting off to the north and east will continue to promote tight
pressure gradients, and as a result, gusty winds. Strongest winds
on Wednesday will be found over northeastern areas, where westerly
gusts to 50 mph are possible. Will monitor for potential wind
highlites there. Cyclonic flow associated with the low will
promote a few showers over northern parts of the area. Winds
decrease Wednesday evening as high pressure builds over the area.
High temperatures in the 60s to lower 70s can be expected on
Wednesday, with low temperatures tonight and Wednesday night
mainly in the 40s. STP
Thursday through Tuesday...
Fairly strong upper ridge will build over the region on Thursday
and the ridge axis shifts E on Friday. Region starts getting into
SW flow aloft on Saturday. Highs Thu. will be in the 80s, then
will reach the 90s to around 100 degrees on Friday and Saturday.
NBM showed possible record highs for Friday. Heat Risk will also
be elevated for Fri. and Sat. which may necessitate a highlight.
An 850 mb jet will bring windy conditions to SE MT during Friday.
Weather is forecast to be dry through Saturday. Chances for
showers and isolated thunderstorms will move into the area
Saturday evening.
Area will be under SW flow on Sunday, and then the clusters showed
timing differences with the next trough for Monday. A more zonal
flow was forecast for Tuesday. Expect isolated to scattered
afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Sunday that will continue
through Monday evening. Sunday will be cooler, in the 80s to lower
90s and Mon. is forecast to be in the 70s to lower 80s. Tuesday
looks dry for now with similar temps to Monday. QPF ensemble
amounts were fairly low, but there was a large spread in the
amounts for low chances of higher amounts. Will need to watch this
period closely for snow melt into the rivers and the potential for
rain on the high elevation snow. Arthur

.AVIATION...
Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies through this evening and
into the overnight hours. Isolated showers and/or a thunderstorm
is possible for all TAF locations. VFR conditions will prevail
through tonight. However, MVFR conditions can be expected in and
near any shower/thunderstorm. Westerly winds 15 to 25kts with
gusts 30 to 40kts will continue through sunset. The winds will
decrease somewhat late this evening but remain gusty throughout
