.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure over the Western Atlantic drifts out to sea this
afternoon and tonight. A cold front approaches from the west on
Saturday and works its way through the region Saturday night
through Sunday. The front will become nearly stationary south of
the area into the new week. High pressure passes north of the
area Sunday through Monday. Low pressure passes through the
region Tuesday through Tuesday night. Another disturbance may
approach towards the middle of the week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
This afternoon...Hot and humid conditions are expected. Highs
will top yesterday's readings by 2 to 4 degrees with maxs 90 to
95 most areas. We will still be 5 to 8 degrees shy of any
records for the area however. Dew points will be in the mid to
upper 60s for the area, so apparent temps will top out in the 94
to 96 degree range.
Skies will be mostly sunny with diurnal Cu. As some upper
energy arrives, sct showers and a few tstms will continue to
move across the NW areas where decent CAPE values (over 2000
j/kg) are fcst. We have chc pops in those areas. Severe storms
are not expected, but downpours may cause some minor flooding in
areas of poor drainage.
Tonight...The loss of daytime heating will result in a decrease
in shower and sct tstm activity this evening across the N/W
areas. We will continue with chc or slight chc pops for the
overnight through with some weak dynamics aloft and to keep
continuity with nearby offices. It will remain very warm and
muggy overnight as the S/SW flow will continue across the area.
Low tonight will drop into the low 70s in most areas but some
mid 70s lows for the urban areas. A little patchy fog possible
NW where any showers fall today.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Unsettled weather on tap for the weekend. A nearly vertically
stacked low will track across Canada, and an upper trough and
surface cold front will extend out from that low down through
the Great Lakes. This system approaches on Saturday and works
its way south through the region before getting hung up across
southern New Jersey down through Delmarva by Saturday evening.
Conditions will be warm and humid ahead of the front with highs
well in the 80s, possibly touching 90 along the urban corridor,
and surface dew points well in the 70s. PWATs will be up around
2 inches. Showers and thunderstorms develop throughout the day,
with the heaviest showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon
through early evening. With the front getting hung up across the
southern third of the forecast area, that is where the bulk of
the rain will fall with a slug of 1/4 to 1/2 inch QPF in the
afternoon, and then an additional 1/2 inch or so is possible in
the evening. Given the locally heavy rain, there may be some
flash flooding. Cannot rule out a few stronger to possibly
severe thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Showers and thunderstorms taper off in the evening and
conditions dry out after midnight. With the front hung up over
the Mid-Atlantic and some shortwave energy passing through on
Sunday, will keep slight chance to chance PoPs in the forecast,
but not expecting a washout or anything like that. Any showers
or storms that develop will taper off Sunday night. Turning a
bit cooler on Sunday by a few degrees, but surface dew points
will fall some 10 to 15 degrees.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Nearly zonal flow sets up on Monday as surface high pressure
builds through the region. Generally sunny skies with highs in
the 80s and surface dew points in the 50s to low 60s.
High pressure moves offshore Monday night, and return flow sets
up on Tuesday. Dew points will rise back up through the 60s and
to around 70. Meanwhile, low pressure will organize and develop
over the Great Lakes and will take a run at the Northeast and
Mid- Atlantic Tuesday and Tuesday night. There is considerable
uncertainty regarding the timing and placement of the low. Will
follow NBM guidance and carry chance PoPs, but there is the
potential for some strong to severe thunderstorms depending on
the timing and placement of the low. Will keep unsettled weather
in the forecast following NBM guidance. A weak disturbance may
pass through on Wednesday followed by a stronger disturbance on
Thursday. Temperatures will generally be at or a touch below
normal with highs in the 80s during this period.

The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
This afternoon...VFR. Winds SW 10 to 15 kts with gusts around
20 kts. Showers/Tstms are possible around KRDG/KABE/KTTN sites,
but low confid in this overall. Just have VCSH in there for
now.
Tonight...Sct showers still possible N/NW early then fair
weather expected. SW or S winds decreasing back under 10 kts.
Outlook...
Saturday through Saturday night...Occasional sub-VFR conditions
in SHRA/TSRA. VSBYs may be reduced to IFR or lower in heavy
rain. A few stronger TSRA are possible. Conditions improve to
VFR Saturday night. SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming NW Saturday
night. Moderate confidence.
Sunday through Sunday night...Generally VFR, though cannot rule
out brief sub-VFR conditions in a passing SHRA or TSRA. NW
winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming N, then NE late Sunday night.
Moderate confidence.
Monday through Monday night...VFR. LGT/VRB winds in the
morning, becoming S 5 to 10 kt late Monday and Monday night.

Tuesday...Overall VFR, but sub-VFR conditions possible in

Winds and seas will increase over the waters this afternoon
with a SCA in place, except on upper Delaware Bay. Fair weather
this afternoon.
Outlook...
Saturday through Saturday night...SCA will be in effect for the
coastal ocean waters through Saturday for SW winds 15 to 20 kt
with gusts to 25 kt and seas 3 to 5 ft. Winds diminish to 5 to
10 kt Saturday night. VSBY restrictions in showers and
thunderstorms, mainly Saturday through Saturday evening.
Sunday through Tuesday...Sub-SCA conditions expected through
