What happened

The episode as NWS ALY wrote it up.

An area of low pressure pushed across the region on Saturday, February 19, 2022. A passing warm front brought a period of light snow to the region during the morning and early afternoon hours with mainly a coating to two inches of accumulation. This snow was enough to cause a few vehicle spinouts/accidents, especially along interstates 87 and 90.

In the wake of this light snow, snow showers and squalls developed ahead of a cold front and pushed eastward during the afternoon hours, briefly but rapidly reducing visibility to at or less than one quarter of a mile at times with occasional wind gusts between 25 and 40 mph. A quick additional coating of snow occurred from these snow showers.

In the wake of the squalls and cold front, strong wind gusts on the order of 35 to around 50 mph developed, continuing into the evening hours before easing at or just before midnight.

Key impacts: travel delays, vehicle accidents/spinouts.
