.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure moving over Nevada will ramp up our onshore flow this
evening, trigger a coastal eddy, and bring more clouds and cooler
weather on Sunday. Moderate southerly winds will prevail along the
coast, while west to southwest winds gust over the mountains and
into the deserts. The cooler weather and deeper marine layer will
prevail through Tuesday, followed by warmer weather, and a shrinking
marine layer for the latter half of next week.

Evening Update:

No changes were needed this evening to the forecast. A coastal eddy
is just beginning to spin up this evening, which will help to spread
maritime stratus across the coastal strip and into the western
valleys late tonight and into Sunday morning.

Previous Forecaster Discussion (issued at 115 PM PDT):

Tonight and Sunday, a trough will dig into the Great Basin, spurring
the spin-up of a moderate eddy over the CA Bight, with gusty south
winds and coastal clouds, which could be persistent in some areas
into the afternoon. Gusty SW-W winds will be blowing by late this
afternoon and overnight across the mts/deserts in advance of this
system, and remain gusty on Sunday well inland. Another vigorous
wave will follow later Mon/Tue, maintaining robust onshore flow with
gusty mtn/desert winds, and near, to 5F below average daytime
temperatures.

Clearing may be limited in some areas of the coastal basin any of
the coming days, with a chance of some patchy drizzle as well. Winds
will be strongest on the desert slopes and below the desert passes,
where a few spots are likely to gust to 50 MPH or more, especially
late Monday evening. This could create some pockets of blowing dust
at times in the deserts.

For the latter half of next week there is ensemble consensus for
warmer weather with weak ridging over the Southwest Wed-Fri, then
cooling is favored into next weekend and the following week, but
with more variability in the individual solutions. Warmest days next
week favor temperatures of 5F or so above average.
