.SYNOPSIS...
Windy conditions developing along the Mojave Desert Slopes this
afternoon and continuing through Sunday. Warmer today with highs
a few degrees above normal for the end of April. A little cooler
on Sunday as a dry trough enters the Great Basin. Much warmer by
the middle of next week with dry weather expected to continue.

.DISCUSSION...
Satellite loops show sunny skies throughout central California this
afternoon as an upper low crosses over the Pacific Northwest coast.
24 hour temperature trends show around 7 to 10 degrees of warming.
High temperatures are forecast to be in the lower to mid 80s across
the San Joaquin Valley this afternoon, around 2 to 6 degrees above
normal. Onshore surface flow will increase this afternoon with a
tightening pressure gradient. Breezy conditions will develop across
the SJ Valley with stronger gusts through and below mountain passes
in eastern Kern County. A Wind Advisory has been launched for the
Mojave Desert Slopes from 3 pm this afternoon through 11 pm Sunday
night, with westerly gusts to around 55 mph expected.

The upper low will track southeast tonight and move over the Great
Basin on Sunday. Modest cooling will occur with forecast highs back
to near climatological averages to begin May. A similar pattern is
expected Monday-Tuesday as a transitory short wave ridge warms us
back up a few degrees above normal on Monday followed by cooling to
near normal on Tuesday as another upper low transits over the Great
Basin. Winds are expected to increase again with the upper low on
Monday with advisory level gusts possible along the Mojave Desert
Slopes.

Models continue to advertise a stronger upper ridge moving in from
the eastern Pacific midweek. Temperatures are forecast to climb to
8 to 12 degrees above normal by Wednesday with highs throughout the
San Joaquin Valley around 90 degrees. Little changes are expected on
Thursday then a few degrees of cooling on Friday as the ridge shifts
to the east.

Surface winds gusting to 45 knots across the Mojave Desert Slopes
in eastern Kern County. Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail
throughout Central California for at least the next 24 hours.
