On November 7, strong southwest winds, associated with a Great Basin upper level trough, occurred ahead of a cold front moving across southeast Arizona. Gusts of 40 to 55 mph caused minor damage. The winds also produced a dust storm that caused road closures and minor accidents in Pinal County near Picacho.

A modest sized tree was blown down in downtown Tucson near 1st St. and Euclid Ave. shortly after the onset of strong winds that occurred much of the day. The tree blocked one lane of traffic on Euclid for a short time.

Southwest winds sustained at 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph created a dust storm that reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile in south central Pinal County along Interstate 10 from mile posts 213 to 226 and along Highway 87 north of Picacho. State officials ordered the closure of Highway 87 between mile posts 220 and 223, but minor accidents were reported prior to the closure taking affect. No injuries were reported.
