At the beginning of October, severe (D2) drought conditions were reported across portions of Koochiching, St. Louis, Lake, and Cass counties. Following several rounds of beneficial rainfall, most areas were no longer experiencing drought conditions by mid-month, although moderate (D1) drought persisted across southern Cass County.
