Another heavy lake effect snow event impacted the thumb for the second time in only 3 days. The snow started around daybreak when northeast winds combined with a reinforcing shot of arctic air to push bands of heavy snow inland. Spotters were reporting that up to 6 inches had fallen by early afternoon. By the time the snow ended later in the day, as much as 8 inches of snow had fallen over portions of the thumb. A 50 car pile-up occurred on Interstate 69 just south of Lapeer when a heavy lake effect snow shower dumped a quick inch of snow and briefly reduced the visibility to near zero. The accident occurred at 1420 EST and closed a 5 mile stretch of both lanes for several hours. No serious injuries or fatalities were reported but multiple minor injuries were sustained.|Richmondville (Sanilac County) 8.0 inches.|Port Sanilac (Sanilac County) 8.0 inches.|Kinde (Huron County) 7.5 inches.|Harbor Beach (Huron County) 6.0 inches.|Port Huron (St Clair County) 5.1 inches.
