A strong low pressure system moved through the southern Great Lakes region. The snow began in the early morning hours of the 22nd, and continued into the evening. Though the heaviest snow was downstate, easterly winds off of Lake Huron contributed to heavy snow in northeast Lower Michigan. Snowfall amounts were generally in the four to eight inch range along and east of M-33, with the highest amounts along the lakeshore. Harrisville had the most accumulation with eight inches. The strong easterly winds produced near blizzard conditions at times, with one to three foot drifts. Travel near the Lake Huron shoreline was impacted severely.
