AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN 330 AM CDT THU APR 18 2002 ONGOING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WITH ELEVATED CONVECTION SPREADING OVER MOST OF WARNING AREA. THE MAIN CONCERN TODAY IS REDEVELOPMENT OF CONVECTION...ESPECIALLY IN SERN AND WI ZONES. THE TRACK OF THE SFC LOW IS FORECAST TO BRING WARM AND HUMID SURFACE AIR WITH CAPES EXCEEDING 2000 AND FAVORABLE SHEAR INTO EARLY AFTERNOON. WITH SURFACE BOUNDARY FROM OVERNIGHT CONVECTION AT LEAST ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE. THE FORECAST WILL CONTINUE ABOVE GUIDANCE HIGH TEMPERATURES IN SERN AND WI ZONES WITH STRONG WARM ADVECTION...80S WILL REACH THESE AREAS. COOLER AIR IS FORECAST TO REACH NWRN ZONES BY THIS AFTERNOON AS THE LOW MOVES EAST. IT SHOULD BE WINDY WITH COLD ADVECTION AND PRESSURE RISES ADDING TO THE GRADIENT. PATTERN CHANGES TO NWRLY FLOW WITH COLDER TEMPERATURES CONTINUING INTO SATURDAY. COOL PACIFIC SYSTEMS GO INTO THE EXTENDED PERIOD. .MSP...NONE SCOTT
