AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS TN
230 PM CDT SUN JUL 14 2002
UPPER LOW STILL PARKED NR TXK...AND NOT MOVING MUCH. 12Z MODELS
GRADUALLY DRIFT THE REMNANTS OF THIS NORTH AND WEST INTO NORTHERN OK
OR SOUTHERN KS ON TUESDAY...WITH THE ETA MODEL SLOWER BY ABOUT 12
HOURS.
LITTLE DRYING OF AIRMASS BELOW 700 MB IS NOTED THROUGH MID-DAY ON
TUESDAY. BEST LIFT APPEARS TO BE IN THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS...BEFORE
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. THIS WOULD LEAD TO AREAL COVERAGE ON MONDAY BEING
A LITTLE LESS THAN THIS AFTERNOON. AS UPPER LOW DRIFTS AWAY FROM
AREA...ITS INFLUENCE WILL LESSEN. UNFORTUNATELY...I DONT THINK IT
WILL DRY OUT ENOUGH TO KEEP TUESDAY FORECAST TOTALLY DRY...BUT WILL
ONLY CARRY 20 POPS. CLOUDS AND PRECIP WILL BE DETERMINING FACTORS ON
TEMPS IN THE SHORT TERM.
AVN INDICATES NEXT SYSTEM WILL APPROACH LATE WEDNESDAY...AND MOVE
THROUGH AREA THURSDAY AND EARLY FRIDAY. CANADIAN MODEL LOSES IT
COMPLETELY...NOGAPS TIMING SIMILAR TO AVN. WILL MENTION CHANCE OF
PRECIP FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY...ALTHOUGH CONFIDENCE IN DRY
FORECAST FOR FRIDAY IS LOWER THAN I WOULD LIKE. EXTENDED PERIOD
TEMPS SHOULD BE SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL. 10
