.SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL SHIFT EAST A LITTLE TODAY
ALLOWING MOISTURE TO BEGIN MOVING INTO WESTERN UTAH THIS AFTERNOON.
THE HIGH WILL WEAKEN TONIGHT AND MONDAY WITH MOISTURE INCREASING
ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA.

.DISCUSSION...MOISTURE IS INCREASING OVER THE FORECAST AREA THIS
MORNING PER PRECIPITABLE WATER IMAGERY LENDING CREDENCE TO MODEL
IDEAS OF CONVECTION DEVELOPING OVER PORTIONS OF THE AREA LATER TODAY
AND THIS EVE. THIS FIRST ROUND SHOULD BE ON THE DRY SIDE WITH STRONG
GUSTY WINDS. AS MOISTURE INCREASES SOMEWHAT MORE MON...STORMS SHOULD
BE WETTER. UPDATED FIRE WEATHER PACKAGE TO ADD RED FLAG WARNING
TO WEST DESERT ZONES AND PUBLIC PACKAGE TO ADD MENTION OF MICROBURST
WINDS TO WASATCH FRONT TONIGHT. EXPECT A LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE HEAT
TODAY DUE TO CLOUD...BUT THESE WILL ARRIVE TOO LATE TO THE PARTY TO
HELP MOST OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL UTAH...SO NEAR OR ABOVE RECORD

A strong thunderstorm ripped through the Sevier Valley, knocking down a 200-foot section of building in Richfield, and blowing down large trees in Monroe. The strongest recorded wind gust was 48 mph (42 kts), but stronger gusts likely occurred with this storm.
