A semi-stationary front extended across northern Nebraska into southern Minnesota during the late afternoon hours. The airmass was quite capped with 700 mb temperatures around +10 C. A strong southerly low level jet stream formed during the late afternoon and evening hours. Thunderstorms erupted along the frontal boundary. The storms moved into the far northwest corner of Iowa, then weakened. One storm slipped into Emmet County and produced 70 MPH winds.
