The Gwinnett Daily Post reported that lightning set on fire and caused considerable damage to the attic of a home. The residents were not home at the time and no injuries were reported.
The Daily Citizen newspaper of Dalton reported that strong thunderstorms downed numerous trees and several power lines across the county. One home in Dalton sustained considerable damage as a large tree fell through the home essentially collapsing in one corner of the house. The majority of the downed trees and power lines were in the Beaverdale and Dawnville areas in the eastern portion of the county, with less damage in the Tunell Hill and Dalton areas. Approximately 1000 residents were without power for several hours, and about 100 residents remained without power well into the next day. Consequently, several businesses were forced to close for the next day. Power crews had difficulty restoring power to some locations because of tree debris blocking roads in some areas.

An amateur radio operator reported street flooding during a thunderstorm. The rainfall rate was reported to be at least 1 inch per hour at the time.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reported that lightning struck a home resulting in minor damage to the attic. Although the residents were home at the time, no injuries were reported. However, one firefighter was injured by falling debris and two others were injured when they fell through the ceiling.
