AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LITTLE ROCK AR
350 AM CST FRI MAR 8 2002

WARM AND BREEZY DAY ON TAP...WITH PLENTY OF CLOUDS. SOUTHERLY WIND
WILL CONTINUE FEEDING MOISTURE INTO ARKANSAS TODAY...WITH LOW CLOUDS
DEVELOPING THIS MORNING AND LASTING UNTIL AT LEAST THE EARLY
AFTERNOON. TRIGGERS LACKING TODAY...SO KEPT RAIN CHANCES LOW. THAT
WILL CHANGE TONIGHT.

COLD FRONT WILL PUSH INTO THE STATE FROM THE PLAINS. PLENTY OF WIND
ENERGY SURROUNDING THE FRONT...BUT MAIN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM/TROUGH
LAGGING BEHIND FRONT A BIT. BECAUSE FRONT AND SYSTEM OUT OF
PHASE...DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER EVENT IN
THE MAKING. HOWEVER...WITH LOTS OF WIND/FAST MOVING STORMS...THINK
THAT SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE LOOKS JUSTIFIED.

SEVERE OR NOT...STORMS WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD TONIGHT...AND
MENTIONED AS SUCH IN THE FORECAST. WILL TURN COOLER IN THE NORTH AND
WEST AFTER MIDNIGHT AS WIND SHIFTS BEHIND ADVANCING FRONT.

WILL BE A LINGERING CHANCE OF THUNDER CENTRAL/EASTERN ARKANSAS ON
SATURDAY. OTHERWISE...SKIES WILL CLEAR BEHIND FRONT WITH A BREEZY
AND COOLER DAY ON TAP. COOL WEATHER WILL CONTINUE ON SUNDAY WITH
PLENTY OF SUNSHINE.

LOOKING AHEAD...AFTER HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVER ARKANSAS DURING THE
LATTER HALF OF THE WEEKEND...HIGH WILL DEPART EARLY NEXT WEEK.
RETURN FLOW WILL BRING INCREASING MOISTURE BY TUESDAY...WITH NEXT
FRONT APPROACHING FROM THE PLAINS. AHEAD OF THE FRONT...A CHANCE OF
SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS IN THE FORECAST ON TUESDAY.

A COUPLE OF DAYS OF DRY WEATHER BEHIND FRONT WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY
BEFORE ANOTHER FRONT ARRIVES BY FRIDAY.
