NORTHEAST OREGON/SOUTHEAST WASHINGTON FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PENDLETON OR 330 PM PDT WED JUN 27 2001 DECREASING CLOUDS THIS AFTERNOON ALLOWED SOLAR HEATING OF THE RESIDUAL MOISTURE IN THE LOWER AND MID LEVELS IN EASTERN OREGON AND WASHINGTON. THE DRIER AIR ALSO PROVIDED SOME INSTABILITY AND HELPED SPAWN THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY...FROM THE EAST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES THROUGH THE BLUE MOUNTAINS. ONE INCH HAIL AND SOME WIND DAMAGE WAS REPORTED IN YAKIMA COUNTY FROM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. THE WARNING FOR THAT STORM HAS EXPIRED. THE STORMS WILL CONTINUE MOVING NORTHEAST IN THE RATHER STRONG SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT AND SHOULD DISSIPATE AROUND SUNSET WHEN THE SOLAR HEATING DIMINISHES. OTHERWISE EXPECT SCATTERED SHOWERS TONIGHT. WITH MORE DRY AIR ALOFT TOMORROW...CLOUDS SHOULD DIMINISH WITH ONLY ISOLATED SHOWERS LINGERING OVER THE EASTERN MOUNTAINS. WILL CONTINUE CARRYING ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE BLUE MOUNTAINS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS THE SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL PROVIDE UPSLOPE FLOW INTO THE BLUES DURING MAXIMUM HEATING. AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE ABOUT THE SAME AS TODAY...AS THE CLOSED LOW ALOFT STAYS OFF THE SOUTHWEST COAST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA...AND THE ASSOCIATED COOLER AIR CONTINUES TO FLOW OVER THE PACIFIC NW. TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN TO REBOUND FRIDAY WITH HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST U.S. FARMER PDT 4100 ALW 4100 PSC 4100 YKM 41200 .KPDT...WSR-88D...VCP21/CSR21...OPERATIONAL. .KPDT...NONE.
